Life’s Negotiator was written for Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra and was a piece I revisited several times to make adjustments to. This was the first piece of mine that was played, and it was very rewarding to hear my composition through something apart from a headset! The piece features rapidly moving sections, mainly lead by brass. Each section has a short unique theme (or motif) and different orchestration while maintaining the same instruments and members of the band. Life’s Negotiator was performed by the Royal Marines Band Plymouth.
